7/25: Walk + Roll

Posted By on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Walk + Roll — the street-closing events that allow revelers to enjoy the roads without being run down by cars — takes on a different vibe based on its location. Founder Lois Moss has lined up a pair of distinct events for this weekend. From 1-4 p.m. today, Walk + Roll Detroit-Shoreway shows off a neighborhood’s future as much as its past, with three miles of car-free streets and paths along the lake. It moves to Slavic Village from 1-4 p.m. tomorrow, where eight miles of streets and trails will connect Mill Creek Falls Metroparks reservation and the Metroparks’ Washington Reservation, which hosts a community picnic from 3:30-6:00 p.m. There’s also plenty of games, food and other things going on at both events. Go to or call 216.870.0057 for more info. They’re free. — Michael Gill
