8/7: Twins Festival

Posted By on Wed, Aug 5, 2009 at 11:51 AM

Cleveland’s own little piece of cultural weirdness gets attention from around the world today, when the 34th annual Twins Day Weekend in (where else?) Twinsburg kicks off. Twins — and triplets, quads and other “multiples” — descend on the Cleveland suburb for three days of twin-centric activities. There are lots of typical summer festival activities: kids’ games, karaoke, a cornhole tournament, an appearance by Jungle Terry, a pancake breakfast Sunday morning, a “Double Take” parade at 9 a.m. tomorrow, fireworks at dusk tomorrow, weather permitting. But the event’s special twist happens at noon tomorrow and Sunday, when the twins’ contests and talent shows take place at Chamberlin Park’s amphitheater (10075 Ravenna Rd.). This year’s theme is the ’50s, so expect to see a lot of matching sets of poodle skirts and ducktails. Admission is $3 for anyone who’s not a registered multiple. Go to twinsdays.org or call 330.425.3652 for info. — Anastasia Pantsios
