9/9: Arterial at Nubrosis Gallery

Posted By on Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Painter Chester Hopkins-Bey and photographer Gina Washington give props to the women in their lives with their new exhibit Arterial: An Expression of Urbanature. A few other artists also contribute work to the show. “We’re dealing with women’s issues — showing where the hard-working women are in Cleveland and what they are doing to get their dreams accomplished,” says Hopkins-Bey. “It’s dedicated to women like my mother who have sacrificed a lot for the arts in this city and have not gotten much credit for those sacrifices.” His mom, Louise Hopkins-Bey, owns Nubrosis Gallery, which hosts the show. It opens with a reception (including performances by Consouliens and DJ Mike Ceeze) from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. at Nubrosis Gallery (11910 Buckeye Rd., 216.240.1541). It runs through the end of October. Donations will be accepted at the door. — Michael Gill
