10/13: Young Frankenstein at Playhouse Square

Posted By on Sun, Oct 11, 2009 at 8:00 AM

With Broadway thriving on revivals and movie adaptations, it was only a matter of time before Mel Brooks revisited his 1974 film Young Frankenstein. The eminently quotable film tells the story of Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson, who inherits the famous castle and picks up where the old man left off. Brooks wrote the lyrics (which earned him much praise on Broadway) and the music (not so much) and won an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. It opens at Playhouse Square's Palace Theatre (1615 Euclid Ave., 216.241.6000) at 7:30 tonight and runs through October 25. Tickets: $10-$75. — Michael Gill
