10/16: The Abecedaria Project

Posted By on Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 10:50 AM

ABC books are among the first most of us ever hold. They introduce toddlers to the alphabet as well as to the general form and feel of books. With their second annual Abecedaria Project, the members of Art Books Cleveland certainly appreciate how letters fall together into words. But they’re aiming for something bigger than that. Look for these handmade books to explore structure as much as content. Be sure to also check out the old-school bindings and text set in moveable type. The exhibit opens with a reception from 6-9 p.m. at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Library Annex Gallery (2340 Lee Rd., Cleveland Hts., 216.932.3600). It continues through November 30. Admission is free. — Michael Gill
