12/3: Star Wars: In Concert at the Q

Because I’m not 70 years old, I’m not big on classical music. But I’m such a Star Wars geek that I’ll sit through the violas, cellos and a bunch of other instruments that all look the same to me at Star Wars: In Concert, where the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform John Williams’ familiar movie scores live onstage. In addition to all the symphonic music, a choir will be there to sing along to some of the tunes (I always thought “The Imperial March [Darth Vader’s Theme]” would sound terrific with a choir). Plus, there’ll be a three-story-tall HD screen beaming scenes from all six Star Wars films while the orchestra plays. We’re talking super-sized Yoda. Does it get any better than that? Yes, it does. Anthony Daniels — who played C-3PO in all the movies — will be in town to narrate the whole thing, guiding newbies through George Lucas’ galaxy and causing fanboys to spazz out in their seats. The whole production also includes an exhibit featuring costumes, props and artwork from the greatest saga of all-time. Awesome it will be! Star Wars: In Concert plays the Quicken Loans Arena (1 Center Ct., 888.894.9424) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets: $35-$75. — Michael Gallucci
