1/10: Elvis Birthday Tribute at State Theatre

Posted By on Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 11:20 AM

If you think the world has too many Elvis imitators, you haven’t seen this first-rate show, which is just as much theater as it is rock ’n’ roll. To give it a degree of legitimacy, Elvis’ original drummer, D.J. Fontana, hosts the event, which celebrates what would have been the King’s 75th birthday. This long-running touring show features guys like Shawn Klush, Steve Kabakos and Donny Edwards — three of the best-known Elvis impersonators in the country — who will recreate Presley’s music, from his early rockabilly days to his glittery Vegas period. The show starts at 7 p.m. at PlayhouseSquare's State Theatre (1501 Euclid Ave., 216.241.6000). Tickets: $10-$45. — Jeff Niesel
