1/27: Motion City Soundtrack at HOB

Posted By on Wed, Jan 20, 2010 at 12:51 PM

Since releasing their debut album, I Am the Movie, in 2003, Motion City Soundtrack have perfected their brand of self-deprecating pop-rock. With each subsequent record — 2005’s Commit This to Memory, 2007’s Even If It Kills Me and the new My Dinosaur Life — the group’s sound has become more polished, a bit pop-heavy and a lot better. Thanks to Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, who produced Commit This to Memory and My Dinosaur Life, Motion City Soundtrack have finally nailed their niche. They’ve evolved without losing the spark that built their fan base. Dinosaur’s first single, “Disappear,” gets in your face, while “Her Words Destroyed My Planet” endears itself to anyone who’s ever had his or her heart broken — in other words, it’s for everyone. Motion City Soundtrack play House of Blues (308 Euclid Avenue, 216.523.2583), with Set Your Goals, This Providence and the Swellers opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $19.99 advance, $23 day of show. — Brittany Moseley
