3/19: Kimberly Akimbo opens at Liminis Theatre

Posted By on Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 2:34 PM

In David Lindsay-Abaire’s 2001 play Kimberly Akimbo, the title character has a disease that causes her to age four-and-a-half times faster than normal. At 16, she looks and feels like a senior citizen. Fretting about her first kiss has nothing to do with adolescent impatience and everything to do with mortality. Plus, how does a 16-year-old who looks 72 find a boyfriend? Clyde Simon directs convergence-continuum’s season-opening production of the dark comedy, which stars Amy Bistok-Bunce, Scott Gorbach, Tom Kondilas, Marcia Mandell and Lauren B. Smith. Showtime is 8 p.m. with performances through April 17 at the Liminis Theatre (2438 Scranton Rd., 216.687.0074). Tickets: $12-$15. — Michael Gill
