Re: “Film Review of the Week: Jodorowsky's Dune

"The Holy Mountain" and "El Topo" are hardly "wacky stuff". They are widely considered cinematic masterpieces. This piece is a disservice to Jodorowsky and cinema in general. Really awful writing and flippant commentary.

Re: “Film Review of the Week: Jodorowsky's Dune

It is simply NOT true that David Lynch's adaptation of "Dune" was "universally despised."

Re: “Film Review of the Week: Draft Day

Since the flick was initially going to feature the Buffalo Bills - and then switched to the Cleveland Browns - it showed that any team could be slipped into a generic script that was OK'd by "The Shield". But - one thing is for sure - after making an acting comeback on the small screen, Costner is pitching blanks on the large one.

Re: “Review of the Week: Under the Skin

Many - if not all - of the scenes of Scarlett Johansson trying to lure men into the van were done with hidden cameras.....and the shocked guys on city streets quickly learning that they just may be appearing in a movie (with the proper waivers signed, sealed and delivered).

Re: “Film Review of the Week: Draft Day

The more people say they don't give a fuck about anybody else, the more it sounds like they do.

Go Browns aside, is the movie worth seeing? Would you care about it as much if it were about the Titans or the Panthers or the Texans? Is it worth a non-fan's time and money? Or the time and money of the fan of another team? Discuss.

"Major League" and its sequel were about the Tribe, but appealed to MLB fans in other cities, and non-fans as well...they were huge. Is this one of that caliber? Somehow, I doubt it will be come a classic football movie. Or classic sports movie, period.

Re: “Film Review of the Week - 300: Rise of an Empire

Timing is everything, a weekend where only a pair of new flicks faced off - in wide release - for top honors, "300: Rise of An Empire" pulled in a cool $45.1 million, outdistancing "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" ($32.5 million).

Re: “Film Review of the Week: RoboCop

The 1987 film was brutally awesome. To pull this franchise out of mothballs - RoboCop 3 (1993) was hilariously hideous and RoboCop 2 (1990) was minimally better, but pales to the first flick - with a reboot by updating/tweaking the original classic story is puzzling.

Re: “Film Spotlight: The Square

.....revolutions seemingly sound fantastic, depending on what one cares to see, minus political blinkers; Richard Elman's classic book on the fall of the Somoza regime in Nicaragua -- "Cocktails at Somoza's" -- chronicles such crumbling hopes as the old boss gives way to the new ones.
