Area Theaters to Host a Special Screening of 'The Room' in January

Thanks to The Disaster Artist, the new James Franco movie about making of the cult classic The Room, the film’s popularity has soared.

Locally, Cleveland Cinemas regularly hosts midnight showings of The Room, but now Fathom Events, a company that books special one-night screenings at movie theaters throughout the nation, will screen the movie at 8 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 10.

“We’ve seen a tremendous response to The Room as a RiffTrax event,” says Fathom Events VP of Programming Kimberly Frueh in a press release announcing the screenings. “With interest in the movie at a fever pitch, thanks to The Disaster Artist, we can’t wait to bring [director and star Tommy] Wiseau’s creation back to the big screen to stand on its own unusual merits.”

In addition showing the full-length feature, Fathom will also show the new “Best F(r)iends” trailer that stars Wiseau and Greg Sestero.

Screenings will take place at Cinemark Southpark Mall in Strongsville, Cinemark Valley View and Regal Crocker Park in Westlake. Other theaters in the region will participate as well. Find a complete list of area theaters here.
