Let the Right One In
The recent U.S. remake Let Me In didn't do all that well at the box office, which is a shame, because it's a faithful and pretty good re-creation. Here's your chance to see the original 2008 Swedish version on the big screen as part of the Cinematheque's Halloween-week schedule. Let the Right One In is the best vampire movie ever made, but it's also a terrific coming-of-age story about a 12-year-old girl/200-year-old monster who befriends a bullied boy. It's a touching and occasionally bloody story that hits on friendship, puberty, and revenge in the most poignant and cathartic ways you can imagine. The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Around a Small Mountain
An Italian guy becomes obsessed with a French woman who works in a traveling circus in this new movie made by eightysomething New Wave director Jacques Rivette. Art and Copy

Carnival of Souls
Great atmospheric horror movie from 1962 about a woman who starts seeing ghosts and other weird things after she survives a car crash. Its twist has been ripped off many times over the years. Double Take
