A Carlos the Jackal biopic leads our picks for the week

This biopic about terrorist/revolutionary Carlos the Jackal is one of 2010's most acclaimed movies. It originally aired as a three-part, five-and-a-half-hour TV miniseries. The Cinematheque is showing the 166-minute theatrical cut that snagged so much praise last year. It's a stunning piece, charting the rise and fall of the charismatic Venezuelan at the center of it all. And don't let its small-screen origin fool you — this epic should be seen in a theater. Anton Chekhov's The Duel

Kuroneko

Japanese ghost story from 1968 about a demon that's killing samurai. Cinematheque. At 6:45 p.m. Thursday, January 13, and 8:50 p.m. Sunday, January 16.

Roman Holiday

Audrey Hepburn won an Oscar as a princess who runs around Rome with reporter Gregory Peck. Cinematheque. At 5:15 p.m. Saturday, January 15, and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, January 16.

Sex Magic

Cleveland Cinema's IFC Midnight film series unspools this documentary about a real-life sex guru who lives in Arizona. Hey, it's gotta be better than that Mike Myers movie. Capitol Theatre. Midnight, Saturday, January 15.

The Temptation of St. Tony
