The Drummer and the Keeper will open this year's CIFF.
The 42nd iteration of the Cleveland International Film Festival will kick off on April 4 with a screening of Nick Kelly's The Drummer and the Keeper, a film about a young drummer with bipolar disorder who befriends a 17-year-old with Asperger's Syndrome.

The film stars Dermot Murphy, Jacob McCarthy, and Peter Coonan. Kelly and producer Kate McColgan as well as actors Murphy and McCarthy will attend the opening night screening.

Tickets are $225 per person ($200 for CIFF members). The evening includes the 7 p.m. screening of the film at Connor Palace followed by a reception in the KeyBank State Theatre.

The festival will close on April 15 with a screening of Borg vs. McEnroe, a drama about the rivalry between tennis stars Björn Borg and John McEnroe. All those who attend the film are invited to the Closing Night Ceremony (dessert reception and awards presentation) around the Tower City Center Grand Staircase after the screenings. Tickets to the screening are $14 for CIFF members and $16 for non-members.

Tickets go on sale to CIFF members at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 16 and to the general public at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23. Tickets will be available online, by phone (1.877.304.FILM) or in-person at the film festival box office in the lobby of Tower City Cinemas.
