The locally filmed and produced Sundance Film Festival movie The Land has been picked up by IFC Films based in New York City.

IFC Films specializes in working with indie flicks and documentaries, and is responsible for backing the likes of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Fahrenheit 9/11.

The Land was written and directed by Cleveland-native Steven Caple Jr., and it's executive produced by music hard hitter Nas and Charles D. King. It opened to rave reviews and was an instant Sundance favorite.

The film follows four local teenagers as they pursue their dream of professional skateboarding, only to cross paths with a dangerous local queenpin played by singer-songwriter Erykah Badu. Ezri Walker, Moises Arias, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Rafi Gavron play the Cleveland teens.

Details have yet to be given on when the film will be released.
