New to DVD this week

Despicable Me (Universal)

One of the year's best animated movies has tons of stuff for grown-ups, like a cool voice cast (including Steve Carell, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, and Danny McBride), a smart story (a baddie straight out of a James Bond movie wants to shrink the moon), and funny recurring jokes (English isn't even a second language to Carell's incompetent villain). The Blu-ray is loaded with extras that will keep you busy for days, including games, behind-the-scenes features, iPhone apps, and a cookie recipe. Best of all, there are three new shorts starring the helium-voiced Minions, who deserve their own TV show.

The A-Team (Twentieth Century Fox)

Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Jessica Biel star in this explosive reboot of the '80s TV show. The concept hasn't gotten any brighter over the past quarter-century, but lots of stuff blows up. I pity the fool who dismisses it as just another rip-off.

Cyrus (Twentieth Century Fox)

John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill fight for Marisa Tomei's affection in this sharp, dark, and overlooked comedy. Reilly plays a divorced man feeling his way through a new relationship with Tomei; Hill is her kinda-creepy, totally-needy son. Get ready to squirm!

Nanny McPhee Returns (Universal)

Know what's even worse than Emma Thompson with bad teeth in a movie about a magical nanny? Flying pigs, bratty kids, poop jokes, and Maggie Gyllenhaal with an atrocious accent in the same movie. Extras include detailed looks at the pigs and mud.
