New to DVD this week

Tracy & Hepburn: The Definitive Collection (Warner) – Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn had such great chemistry onscreen for one simple reason: they were banging each other offscreen. This box compiles for the first time the nine movies they made together between 1942 and 1967, the year Tracy died. Some (like the romantic comedy Woman of the Year) are better than others (soggy melodrama The Sea of Grass). Most fall somewhere in between. Best: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, in which the stars play the shocked parents of a girl who's engaged to a black man. It was a big deal in 1967. Hepburn pays tribute to Tracy in a bonus feature.

Country Strong (Sony) – Here's something hipsters will never admit: Gwyneth Paltrow is a better singer than Zooey Deschanel. That doesn't mean this movie, starring Paltrow as a country star making a comeback, is any good. It isn't. But Paltrow is likable. Extras include additional songs.

H.R. Pufnstuf: The Complete Series (Vivendi) – Pass the bong! All 17 episodes from the psychedelic-hued Saturday-morning TV show starring everyone's favorite acid-damaged dragon are compiled in this three-disc set. It even comes with a bobblehead so you can trip without leaving the couch.

White Material (Criterion) – The latest movie by French arthouse fave Claire Denis stars Isabelle Huppert as an old-school European colonist and plantation owner caught up in a civil war brewing in Africa. It's filled with director Denis' typically mysterious musings and sweeping images of chaos.
