Citizen Kane: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition (Warner)
Orson Welles' 1941 debut has topped so many Best Movie Ever lists that you can just assume that, yeah, it's pretty damn good. But spend some time poking around the corners, and you'll find a remarkable piece of filmmaking even after all these years. Welles throws so much into every frame — tracking shots, flashbacks, multiple narratives — that you'll get dizzy keeping up with all of it. The story, about the rise and fall of a newspaper magnate, is great too. This three-disc Blu-ray debut piles on the extras, including a documentary about the movie's troubled history.
Conan O'Brien Can't Stop (Magnolia)
After O'Brien was canned from The Tonight Show, he did what any reasonable guy would do: He grew a beard and went on a standup tour. This documentary chronicles that road adventure. Team Coco supporters will love the behind-the-scenes stuff, but Jay Leno fans still won't get what the big deal is.
Hesher (Lionsgate)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a tatted, chain-smoking porn addict who falls for Natalie Portman in this sometimes savage, occasionally sentimental portrait of a jackass. He's the best thing in this otherwise mundane movie. The deleted scenes don't help much.
Meek's Cutoff (Oscilloscope Laboratories)
Michelle Williams goes all badass as a tough young prairie gal in this western about 19th-century settlers trying to cross the dangerous Oregon Trail. You need to settle into the movie's deliberately paced groove to appreciate its nuances, but you'll be glad you did.
