Matthew Dellavedova exploded onto the national sportswriting scene with a quintessentially "scrappy" performance during the NBA playoffs. The Australia native became a fan favorite, and cheers of “Delly, Delly, Delly” rattled down from the crowd throughout the Finals. His underdog story was relatable, certainly, and movie-worthy, apparently.

Now, Dellavedova's life and basketball career will become the basis for a feature film or Friday Night Lights-style series, says the Sydney Morning Herald. Currently titled, The Final Four, the fictional story will follow three young Aussie basketball players who head to the U.S. to play college ball.

Role Models executive producer Jason Shuman has already signed on to the film, and The Bodhi Tree's Robert 'Bobby' Galinsky will be the screenwriter and executive producer.

The movie has been in the works for almost three years, and Delly’s recent rise in fame surely won’t hurt box office numbers. Casting for the film will start before Christmas, as the team searches for the actors who will bring the film and Mathew Dellavedova to life on the silver screens.
