"Metal on Metal" Pays Tribute to Late Venomin James Drummer

Koston

Host Bill Peters will pay tribute to drummer Jared Koston of local metal band Venomin James on his weekly WJCU 88.7 FM show, Metal on Metal, at 6:30 tonight.

Peters will feature live performances and new studio material by the band, whose second album, Crowe Valley Blues, will be released on Peters’ Auburn label later this year.

Koston passed away Tuesday at age 40 after a five-year battle with cancer.

Condolences and tributes came from as far away as Omsk, Siberia, where Akron’s Tim “Ripper” Owens, currently on tour with his all-star metal project Hail!, dedicated a song to Koston last night after getting the news. —Anastasia Pantsios
