Los Lobos/Colin Dussault & Jim Tigue
With the mantle of Tex-Mex zydeco rock ‘n’ roll gracing their legacy, Los Lobos have been infusing the American scene with a south-of-the-border flair for more than four decades. They’ve dropped many albums, including 2015’s Gates of Gold, which keeps pace with David Hidalgo’s head-nodding, rhythmic songwriting and the all-hands-on-deck knack for getting listeners dancing and thinking. Everything from the upbeat “Made to Break Your Heart” to the downtrodden “There I Go” is of a piece on this one, and one would do well to rewind a bit and revisit the band’s classics, as well. (For my money, their best tune is the haunting “When the Circus Comes,” which details the pain and agony of a relationship fading into the ether.) (Eric Sandy), 8 p.m. Music Box Supper Club.
Adrian Belew/Saul Zonana
Guitar wiz Adrian Belew comes to town tonight with his new quartet (in the past, he’s toured with a power trio). His latest album, Pop-Sided, finds Belew channeling his various influences. He wrote about 30 songs that he whittled down to the 11 that appear on the album. Expect to hear some of them tonight along with other material from his solo albums and songs he wrote and recorded with prog rock heroes King Crimson. (Jeff Niesel) 8 p.m., $25-$48. Amy Grant
At tonight’s show featuring singer-songwriter Amy Grant, fans can expect an evening of their favorites, including a heavy smattering of tracks from 1991’s Heart in Motion, which was a blockbuster success, eventually selling over five million copies, carried by the strength of singles like “That’s What Love Is For,” “Every Heartbeat,” “I Will Remember You” and “Baby, Baby,” tracks likely to find their way into tonight's setlist. SATURDAY, MARCH 2
Ty Segall and White Fence/AXIS:SOVA
It's hard to keep up with L.A. singer-songwriter Ty Segall. At 31, the prolific artist has already amassed 10 studio albums to his name. Last year, he teamed up with White Fence (aka Tim Presley) once again for a record called Joy, which they're now touring behind. The jaunt includes tonight's sold-out stop at the Beachland Ballroom. Each Segall album differs musically, but this second effort for the pair offers up sweet little nuggets of rock, with most tunes rarely making the two-minute mark. None of it's super memorable, but you'll find yourself enjoying the ideas nonetheless. Tonight's show is part of the Beachland Ballroom's Anniversary Weekend. Michael Stanley and the Resonators
Despite his recent health issues, local singer-guitarist Michael Stanley continues to be productive. He's put out an album a year for the past six years, self-releasing the discs through his own Line Level label. Expect to hear MSB favs as well as a good sampling of Stanley’s solo material at tonight’s show. 8 p.m., $38.50. Akron Civic Theatre.
SUNDAY, MARCH 3
Lunasa/Andrew McManus
On a tour that celebrates 21 years of touring together, the Irish group Lunasa returns to the Music Box tonight. The tour supports Cas (Irish for "something different”), the group’s first studio recording in seven years. It represents the first time ever that guest vocalists have appeared on a recording. The disc includes appearances by Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Tim O'Brien, and the release includes beautiful ballads such as "The Dregs of Birch." (Niesel) 7 p.m., $20 ADV, $25 DOS.
