Amps II Eleven (Smog Veil)

Bright Young Things
On their self-titled full-length debut, Amps II Eleven deftly replicate their concert vibe -- namely that these guys are utterly incapable of fucking around for even a second.

On "Gas Ass or Grass" and 11 other tracks, the Cleveland band recalls a time when scruffy rockers gleefully stomped all over the feel-good vibe of sensitive types who just wanted to get mellow. "Get out of my head/And into my bed," Matt Wroth practically spits on "Waste of a Pretty Face," as former Stepsister guitarists Attila Csapo and Aaron Dowell jerk their strings as if Stooges blood runs through their veins. It's not pretty, but it's a nice alternative to the needy, sobbing mob whose tinny music never makes anybody shake their ass like this stuff does.
