The folks at the Akron-based, hand-crafted effects pedal manufacturer EarthQuaker Devices have just announced that they will celebrate EarthQuaker Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Earthquaker headquarters at 350 West Bowery St. in Akron.
Billed as “two parts music festival, three parts customer appreciation day, one-part effects pedal factory open house, one-part guitar show, one-part art installation, and one-part street fair with a pinch of carnival fun and games and a side of bazaar,” the event will showcase the new Plumes Small Signal Shredder for the first time ever.
The event will kick off at 11:30 a.m. with a special appearance by Dave Hill, the Northeast Ohio native who’s become a renowned comedian and musician, and demonstrations and performances showcasing EarthQuaker Devices continue throughout the day.
Additionally, EarthQuaker Devices will be sponsoring free concerts all weekend.
First, on Friday, Aug. 2, the Beyonderers join Pleasure Leftists and Mourning [A] BLKstar for a kick-off show at Musica. That same night, Lisa Bella Donna Quartet performs at BLU Jazz+ from 8 to 11. On Saturday, Aug. 3, EarthQuaker Devices owner and president Jamie Stillman will perform a rare reunion set with his band the Party of Helicopters at Musica. Niights and Caveman are also on the bill.
