Brittany Reilly Band

Meet the Band: Brittany Reilly (vocals, bass), Brent Hopper (lead guitar, mandolin), Rob King (drums), Cliff Starbuck (banjo), Peter Dubyoski (rhythm guitar)

Back in Bay: Originally from Bay Village, Reilly lived in Asheville, North Carolina for a few years but in 2011, she and her husband, bandmate Brent Hooper, moved back to Bay Village. "We miss the traveling," Reilly admits. "The hardest thing is adapting to being on someone else's schedule. Our 7-year-old has a more demanding schedule than we do. It's great to be back with family and establishing ourselves as a band in my hometown. We were pleasantly surprised by the fact that it hasn't been as hard as we thought it would be to find a following here."

An Electrifying Sound: The band started as an acoustic duo but has recently expanded. "It's fun. We now have so much versatility and our writing can open up," Reilly says. "We can pull out a fiddle or kick it up with two electric guitars. It makes it more exciting for us and hopefully for our fans, too."

Out on Route 66: The band is currently raising money through Kickstarter for a summer tour that will take it along Route 66. "We were going to do Chicago to L.A. but we cut out some of the stops," she says of the tour that will also yield a live CD. "We traveled along so many parts of it in the past that we thought it would be cool to do a entire tour along the route." An Outlaw from an Early Age: While growing up, Reilly says she always loved outlaw country guys like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. "My grandpa was a mason bricklayer and he used to take us around in his pickup truck and would play what he called 'shit kickin' music' and sang at the top of his lungs. I got a taste for that back then." While at college in South Florida, she met Hopper, who would become her husband, and joined his bluegrass band.

Why You Should Hear Them: The band's mix of honky tonk, bluegrass and Americana is infectious and the group is currently at work on its fourth album, which it plans to record in the fall. "We want to write some songs as a band and not just bring individual songs to the group," says Reilly. "We want to get more influences into the music."
