The punks of Kansas City's Bent Left shout out verses, choruses, and bridges in unison — just like their mohawk-sporting influences used to back in the day. As you might have gathered from its moniker, Bent Left swings political. Not that you'd know that by a quick glance at the contents of its new EP, Premeditated Insanity, which includes songs with wordy, jokey, and emo-sounding titles like "The Higher You Hold Your Pinky the Fancier You Are" and "An Eye for an Eye Leaves the Whole World Dressed Like Pirates" (whew!). All three guys are in their early twenties, which places their collective birth year around 1985 — right about the time Black Flag, the Dead Kennedys, et al. ran out of steam. If you missed it the first time around (like Bent Left did), here's your chance to get all faux-nostalgic.
