Blue Lunch to Play 7th Annual Holiday Latke Party

For the past several years, the local blues/jazz/soul outfit Blue Lunch has played a special Christmas concert. This year is no different. The group has just announced that the 7th Annual Blue Lunch Holiday Latke Party will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 25, at the Beachland Ballroom. This year, the group is turning the concert into a benefit for Max Bangwell (Bob Ebersole), who was the drummer for local blues icon Robert Lockwood Jr. for many years. Bangwell is fighting lung cancer and his insurance doesn’t cover the additional treatments and therapies he needs. Bangwell has also performed with the Schwarz Brothers and other local acts. He’ll be at the concert and might even perform. Blues singer-guitarist Sean Carney is on the bill as well. As the event's title suggests, patrons will also be able to nosh on Latkes, Jewish potato pancakes, which will be available. Tickets are $12 ADV, $15 DOS.
