The trio of Android (Filament 38), Kevin Roll (Rivulett), and Larry Szym-Stym eschews the genre's dance-floor fads and heads in the direction of Front 242, early Skinny Puppy, and Germany's Haujobb. The territory has been mined before, but Chew's does it competently and leaves its own marks. "New Limb" and "Wasted Earth" generate sinister moods; "Toxin" is a slow burner that tackles the heavy subject of stomach flu. Who says rivetheads have no sense of humor?
