Columbus' Times New Viking has some free music for you

"We're over here!"
Columbus noisemakers Times New Viking recently cut some live tracks for the super-cool Daytrotter website. The trio’s latest album, Rip It Off , is a pretty awesome blast of indie-rock racket that has much in common with fellow Ohioans Guided By Voices -- namely, songs are half-finished and sound like they were recorded on an old cassette tape. The Daytrotter sessions include three songs from Rip It Off and one from 2007’s Present the Paisley Reich. All are available as free downloads and feature band commentary that confirms suspicions we’ve always had about the group (they sum up one cut with, “Luckily, I was just high”). Great stuff, even if they do sound pretty much like the album versions. Go get ’em, and be sure to check out Times New Viking when they play the Beachland on August 23. --Michael Gallucci “Mean God” by Times New Viking:
