Explosive — yes. When the biggest baddest light show and stage set (fake palm trees and all!) is matched with a truly empowering performance, the results can be truly spectacular, like they were at last night's Killers concert at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City.
No matter if you got laid-off last week, your girlfriend dumped you and your dog died, all is well ... at least for the duration of a Killers show.
Armed with material from their latest album, Day & Age, the Killers' new songs beefed up an already sturdy set featuring songs from their first two records, Hot Fuss and Sam's Town. The Killers managed to get rained-on Clevelanders jumping for the entire show. Hell, I’m surprised I didn’t skip home.
Charging the stage with “Human,” the band maintained their energy throughout the concert.
The extra onstage bandmates helped fill out the sound, making it bigger and badder without using too many backing tracks and samples. The audience embraced every moment — even when the larger-than-life stage show false started.
The only thing missing was frontman Brandon Flowers' awesome feathered shoulder jacket. —Carissa Bowlin
