The old Grog Shop was one of the city's more local-friendly clubs, and the newly relocated venue is wasting no time to demonstrate that the tradition will continue. From Friday through Sunday, Dead End America takes in 10 bands each night from all over Ohio.

The three nights are loosely grouped by vibe. Rock Friday features Viva Caramel and Athens's loud and raw We March. Saturday's harsh assortment of metal and punk acts includes the Brazen Rogues and Columbus's jazzy mathcore Silencio. Sunday's experimental lineup features indie and electronic acts, including Akron's two-member/seven-instrument outfit Genetically Yours and dub-reggae Intelligent Knives.

"The Grog Shop was really enthusiastic about the idea," says event organizer Steve Barrett. "A lot of the bands had played the old Grog Shop, and they haven't been to the new one yet, so they're all psyched. The club has done so much for the scene that it was the ideal place to host the fest."
