Devon is more of a traditionalist than Derek Trucks, guitarist and nephew of Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers Band. He gears his music toward the hard-partying House of Blues crowd -- punchy breakdowns, shiny licks, and a forceful voice, replete with the soulful drawl his dad perfected. A Hammond organ even bubbles underneath Honeytribe's bump 'n' grind.
Fans looking for the dual axemanship of Dickey and Duane are not gonna find it here, but Devon is a nasty guitarist, with blazing leads and a love for classic rock moves.
Formed in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2000, Honeytribe has dropped a live EP and a full-length titled Torch. Folks interested in blues rock that is loud, loud, and loud will not be disappointed. Bring your drinking hat.
