Sal Canzonieri, rhythm guitarist for Electric Frankenstein, is a super-nice guy who has worked his butt off to bring "true rock and roll" to the masses. He is also a serious conspiracy theorist, who truly believes that major labels, corporate media outlets, smarmy indie rock 'zines, and probably some Sasquatch created in a Masonic hideout are all in cahoots to keep sweaty, no-frills rock from reaching "the kids." Perhaps parts of his fevered rants have merit. But the reality is that his "true rock and roll" -- of the Chuck Berry-cum-MC5-cum-Black Flag-cum-embittered-record-collector variety -- has never been fully supported by The Man, and it's just that "us against them" spirit that is half the guts of the best rock. Besides, it wasn't The Man who ultimately reduced Electric Frankenstein from one of the hottest guitar armies in the '90s into a speedy bar band that's changed lead singers more often than there are UFO sightings in Nevada.
