
A former Clevelander who holds a degree in music composition from Cleveland State University and played with the noisy free jazz band Birth, Jeremy Bleich moved to Santa Fe in 2005 where composes and teaches. A renowned jazz basssit, he has performed on the oud (the Arabic lute) at the Ramadan festival in Tusla, Turkey and has played with laptop musician and composer Andrew Stoltz. He also develops operettas for children as a composer in residence with the Santa Fe Opera and has worked with Santa Fe poet laureate Joan Logghe in composing music for the children's program Joan and the Giant Pencil. He comes back to town on Sunday, July 6, to perform at the Root Café in Lakwood for a special concert featuring him on the oud. The performance takes place from 6 to 8 p.m.
