Playing a wedding isn't usually the kind of major accomplishment that helps a band find a national audience. But playing Frank "The Tank" Ricard's wedding in Old School -- that will get your career going. The Dan Band turned heads at the reception for Tank's ill-fated matrimony, dropping a few well-timed F-bombs into Bonnie Tyler's otherwise sappy "Total Eclipse of the Heart." If you liked that little clip, there's plenty more where that came from. And they (frickin') need you more than ever.

As with many a great notion, the Dan Band's roots lie in a beer-soaked karaoke session. After ripping through feminist classics like En Vogue's "Free Your Mind" and Laura Branigan's "Gloria," Dan Band singer Dan Finnerty took his show on the road, turning the gag into a steady gig for his seven-man ensemble. The band perform tongue-in-cheek takes on generations of girl-power staples (including a few Abba tunes; same difference). They keep the joke fresh, giving many of the tunes the medley treatment -- see the one-two-three combination of Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle," TLC's "No Scrubs," and Britney Spears' "Slave 4 U." And rocked-out versions of Suzanne Vega's "Luka" and Kelis' "Milkshake" will make you believe a man can shoop.
