A couple of years ago, Oldboy’s Shawn Brewster and Shelby Lynn Sangdahl launched the indie folk band Shawn & Shelby.
Two years on, the band is still going strong and has now just released a new music video for the eerie ballad "Emergency."
"Shelby and the production company, Elements Pictures, came up with the concept for this video for a song which Shelby and I had only played live together," says Brewster. "There was an improv element to the song and lyrics when we did with the main story of two people that just couldn’t get out what they wanted to say and the regrets we can have because of that moment of walking away."
The group also worked on the recording with local producer Jim Stewart.
Brewster says the meaning of the video, a "short film" that features a young man (Collin Nutter) and woman (Lydia Tamburro) embracing each other, is "open to interpretation."
"The actors did a great job of delivering what we were going for," he says.
Early next year, the group has plans to record a few new songs direct-to-vinyl with the local recording company the Earnest Tube.
