An afterschool music club at a New Jersey Catholic school led to the formation of the indie rock act Screaming Females. That's where band members all met.

Much like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Sleater-Kinney, the band highlights its female lead singer while surrounding her with punk-inspired white noise.

Both Spin and Village Voice have put dynamic singer-guitarist Marissa Paternoster on “best guitarists” lists.

The group has just announced a slew of tour dates in support of its forthcoming new album, All At Once.

The band will perform at the Grog Shop on April 14.
