Fucking Infinity (2012)

Insurrect death metal Swedish rock

On first listen, it's easy to mistake Insurrect for a horde of transplanted Swedes. Fucking Infinity's melodic death metal recalls tuneful headbangers like In Flames and At the Gates. But like the miscreant offspring of a Black Dahlia Murder superfan and a Lake Erie water demon, the group's roots are firmly ensconced in Cleveland.

Guitarists Evan Linger and Josh Durocher-Jones anchor the music, throwing out enough Iron Maiden-style harmonies on songs like "Filtheater" to make 3 Inches of Blood envious. And singer Todd Pincombe's piercing rasps and growls keep the mayhem propelled at a frantic pace. Fucking Infinity is the first release to come out of John Delzoppo's new Negative Space Studios, and it's available only on old-school vinyl. Purists rejoice!
