Eighteen years ago,
Joey McIntyre's fans would have ripped him to shreds if New Kids on the Block had played a venue the size of the Cambridge Room at the House of Blues. Nowadays, Joey is all grown up, and his mature voice proves it -- along with the veteran showmanship he brought to the stage Tuesday night.
Joey culled the bulk of his set from his new disc,
Talk to Me, a collection of classics like "Moon River," "Come Rain or Come Shine," and "The Way You Look Tonight." Speaking of which, Joey has not lost his looks -- or his ability to charm the ladies. If anything, growing up added to both. Women were screaming during his cover of "Hound Dog," and of course, he broke out the dreamy New Kids hit "Please Don't Go Girl." But despite his tender side, it was ultimately McIntyre's humor that allowed him to win over the crowd.
We'll have to wait and see if Joey can make his own tunes successful. Until then, you have to grab
Talk to Me; it's great for candlelit dinners.
