Journalist Who Covered the Beatles in 1964 to Speak at Tri-C's Black Box Theatre

The Beatles Revisited

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beatles concert that took place in Cleveland in 1964 with a special event featuring journalist and author Art Schreiber, who’ll lead a discussion about the British group at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, in the Black Box Theatre of the Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts of Cuyahoga Community College adjacent to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives.
One of only a handful of journalists who accompanied the band on its 1964 tour, Schreiber, the news director at Cleveland’s KYW-AM/FM radio station at the time, will talk about that tour and share excerpts of interviews he did with the Beatles. Notably, he played Monopoly with John Lennon and George Harrison, and he credits Paul McCartney with saving his career. Schreiber currently lives in New Mexico and is a member of the New Mexico Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. The Rock Hall’s head archivist Jennie Thomas will also give a brief presentation of the materials included in the Rock Hall’s collection related to the Beatles’ 1964 U.S. tour. She’ll talk about the photographs, tour documents, articles from the Jane Scott Papers and an 8mm silent film of the Cleveland show.
