Keelhaul returns to action Monday, December 25 at the
Grog Shop's annual X-Mas at the Grog (2785 Euclid Hts. Blvd., 216-321-5588).
"We're back," says Will Scharf, drummer of the post-metal crush crew. "We never really went anywhere. We just kind of hermited out for a while. Maybe we'll do some touring next year. We're all old now, and have this new waffle franchise to operate."
We're pretty sure he's kidding about the waffle house, but he answered some other questions for us.
Scene: Are we any closer to another record? If so, when?
Scharf: We're getting there. Did I mention that we're old? Me especially. With that comes slow. REALLY slow. I think we work out about 20 seconds of music a month, on average. We're going to record in mid-June, so release date will probably be around October '07. We might also try to release a DVD around that time. We're trying to help record stores the world over maintain their inventory of stuff that people will never buy.
Scene: You're playing this year's X-Mas at the Grog with Roue. Are you friends? Fans?
Scharf: We know them. Friends, definitely. I've never actually seen them. I'm sure I'm the only one of us who hasn't.
Scene: What does Keelhaul want for Xmas?
Scharf: Bush out of office and a corndog.
