As the release date of his new album continues creeps closer (Sept.14), Kid Cudi continues his self-promotion. Already having released the first single, Mr. Cudder dropped off his latest work at Kiss 96.5 last night and allowed the station’s own DJ EV and Java Joel to premiere the track. Entitled “Erase Me,” Cudi brings fellow G.O.O.D. Music labelmate Kanye West out of hiding to lace the song with a third verse.
Always staying true to his Cleveland roots, Cudi allowing a Cleveland radio station to premiere a song of this magnitude gave our city some recognition on many of the major hip-hop blogs around the net. As for the song itself, Cudi seems to be going in a very different direction with the upcoming Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Sounding more like a Weezer jam than a hip-hop song, Cudi croons about his failed experiences with the opposite sex until Mr. West steers the track back to its hip-hop roots. Whatever your feelings are about the song, Kid Cudi will continue experimenting with his sound and putting our lovely city on the map.
