Local Band in Focus

Crooked River Blues Band

Meet the Band: Myles McDonald (vocals, guitar), Myles Murray (vocals, fiddle), David Nosse (vocals, bass), Klaus Newmann (vocals, keys), Eric Radcliffe (vocals, banjo), and Anthony Campo (drums)

We're an Americana Band: These righteous rockers — who came together during a jam session — meddle with edgy folk tempos, combining fiddle and banjo with keys and guitars. "We play different songs all the time," says McDonald. "We play a different set every time."

No Muddy Waters in This River:

Oddly, the Crooked River Blues Band don't play the blues. Their name's more of a reflection of their hometown pride. "We represent Cleveland," says McDonald. "It's where we're from, where we're at, and it's who we are."

It's Like Crack: The Crooked River Blues Band have a demo available for free. You can find it at their shows or by contacting them at [email protected]. But you'll have to pay for their full-length debut, which they're now working on.

Why They Say They Matter:

"Our music is accessible to a wide audience," says Nosse. "All different people come to hear us."

Why We Say They Matter:

Their nervy approach to Americana and soulful sound are an adventurous break from the one-dimensional tunes so many other rootsy bands spew.
