Local Drummer to Compete in Guitar Center Drum Off Quarterfinals

Mark "Policy" Buchwald, the former drummer for local bands Deaf Children at Play and Dirt, just won the 2014 Guitar Center Drum Off for Cleveland. He’ll represent Cleveland in the quarterfinals that take place on Oct. 21 at the North Olmsted store where he’ll compete against winners from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Toledo, Buffalo, Dayton, Youngstown and a few other cities. If he wins that round, he’ll move on the semifinals in New York. “My judges and store employees are really behind me and think I can make it to L.A. for the grand finals,” says Buchwald, who used to live in L.A. and studied under Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Ringo Starr).
