For the past five years, singer-bassist David Allen Moss [pictured] has been a part of the local music scene in one fashion or another. He currently fronts the hard rock act MOSSOM, a group that often draws comparisons to Cage the Elephant, Primus and the Kooks.

Recently, the band was selected from a pool of over 3000 submissions to perform during SXSW as part of a 40-band “micro-festival” dubbed Texas Indie Fest.

So it would have some new music for the occasion, the band recorded a new track at the locally based Somewhere Recording in Euclid.

“We’re hoping to release one finished single when we shove off,” says Moss in a press release about the SXSW gig.

The band then plans to release the remaining two songs it recorded at Somewhere Recording in April and May as part of a larger campaign to crowdfund its first full-length LP.

“This is an opportunity to do something we’ve never done — to bring our dream on the road and, for the first time, represent Cleveland on the national stage,” says drummer Russ Herbert.

The band has lined up shows in Indianapolis and Little Rock on the way to its March 16 show in Austin. Fans can track the band on its Facebook, Flickr and Youtube channels throughout the tour.
