Local Hardcore Bands Face Value and Splinter Reunite to Play Benefit Concert

Concert Announcement

When the local hardcore bands Splinter and Face Value played Cleveland back in the early ’90s, one of their biggest fans was Shawn Wenzel, front man for Canton Ohio's straight edge band XenduranceX. He’s recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and promoter Larry Gargus has gotten Face Value to reunite for a benefit concert. In addition, Gargus’ band Splinter is playing its first show in 20 years for the benefit. Enhailer and Feds are also on the bill. “Shawn asked us to play so we are — he was a huge supporter for us when we were around,” says Gargus. There will also be raffle to help raise money. The concert takes place at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at Musica in Akron. Tickets are $10.

Two additional benefits are scheduled as well. Kill Franklyn, Worship This!, the Ruts and the Squid perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at the Auricle in Canton, and Son of Neckbeard, Pork, Crotch, the Ruger Conspiracy and Drogheda perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Sadie Rene's in Canton.
