The local psychedelic rock band Zip-Zapp will issue its debut album this week. It’s a delightfully weird one too.
The disc begins with the sound of chirping birds and then includes everything from spacey jazz segments to trippy psychedelic rock interludes.
It arrives on all streaming services on Friday. On Saturday, the band performs at the Five O’Clock Lounge as part of PressureFest.
Inspired by acts such as Cream, Can and the Who, the duo recorded the album at home studios, and it includes a guest appearance by Nashville based steel guitarist Mike Daly (Hank Williams Jr./Travis Tritt).
The band has already started recording a follow-up album, which is due out later this year.
