Local Singer-Songwriter Joshua Jesty to Reunite his Former Band Love Scream

Music News

For as long as he can remember, local singer-songwriter Joshua Jesty has written songs. During an interview last year, he recalled how he grew up in a house that was full of music and was “always creating little melodies” in his head. When he went to school at Berklee School of Music in Boston, the pieces really began to fall into place, and he formed the rock band Love Scream.

Released in 2000, the band’s sole full-length, More Songs about the Reproductive Cycle, chronicles the start of Jesty's songwriting. Recorded during the summer of 1999, but written and rehearsed by the band for more then a year, the record highlights the musicianship of singer-bassist Owen Biddle, singer-guitarist Josh Kaler and percussionist Dan Meath and “mixes it with the often times ridiculous ramblings and song structures of Joshua Jesty.”

The musicians from the band have made names for themselves. Biddle played in the Roots until 2012, and Kaler has produced records and performed with William Fitz Simmons and Dar Williams. He's currently assistant engineer at Butch Walker's Nashville studio.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the 5 O'Clock Lounge in Lakewood, the band will play a reunion show. Admission is free. At the show, the last batch of Love Scream CDs will be sold at a pay what you want price and there will be plenty of Jesty merch for sale too. All money raised goes to support Jesty's girlfriend, Kaycee Zack, who's currently battling leukemia.
