Mary’s Lane’s ‘See You Next Time’ Features More than Just Irish Music

Mary's Lane

See You Next Time

The latest offering from locals Mary's Lane opens with the conventional Irish instrumental "Slowpoke." But elsewhere, the guys mix it up a bit more. "I Got a Letter Today" sounds like something you might hear at a hoedown; same goes for the infectious "Sway," with a prominent fiddle riff that could almost pass as a commercial country tune. "Wrecking Ball with No Clue" resembles alt-country and has shades of Wilco and the Old 97's. The album includes a few local references: Cleveland mobster Danny Green in "Robin Hood of Collinwood" and the "water spirits that fly off the coast of Lake Erie" in "The Tangie." Recorded locally at Bad Racket Studio and mixed by Adam Boose at his Cauliflower Audio, the album provides a nice balance of the band's diverse sound.

Mary's Lane performs July 18 to 20 at the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, and on Sunday, July 20, at the Taste of Tremont.
