Mic Check: The Bravery at the Agora on Saturday

You really can’t blame the Bravery for getting a little bitchy when certain stories are shared. Like the one about them coming out around the same time as dozens of other new-wave revival bands. Or the one about them and the Killers having a whole lot in common. (To inhale some second-hand bitchiness, read my interview with the Bravery’s co-founder and keyboardist John Conway in this week’s Scene.) But they really should lighten up. The Bravery’s two albums – 2005’s self-titled debut and last year’s The Sun and the Moon – are serviceable slabs of retro electro-pop and epic guitar rock, respectively. They may not be very original, but they manage to make audiences both dance and play air guitar, drums, and keys – which is more than a lot of other groups can do these days. -- Michael Gallucci The Bravery performs at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 16, at the Agora Ballroom, 5000 Euclid Avenue.
