Mikey G's Weekend Picks: Don't think. Just go.

Get intimate with Mother Earth at Saturday's Burning River Fest.
This weekend’s top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who’s paid to pick them: Friday: Danish director Lars von Trier ’s best films explore the human psyche on the edge of reason. It’s surprising, then, to watch his office-bound comedy, The Boss of It All, about an IT-company owner who hires an unemployed actor to play the phantom boss nobody’s ever seen. Soon, the self-important thespian realizes he’s there to enforce the real chief’s dirty work -- like selling the operation and firing the entire staff. Von Trier has the most fun he’s ever had with a film. It screens at the Cleveland Cinematheque. Saturday: Green is this year’s black -- with Al Gore, Live Earth, and the Prius all hogging recent headlines. But that’s old news to the Great Lakes Brewing Company, whose Burning River Fest has given props to the environment for seven years now. Today’s bash at Whiskey Island Marina brings it to the local level, with dozens of area groups talking about green buildings, urban gardens, and alternative power sources like solar and wind. There are also yoga demonstrations, rock-wall climbing, and live music. Sunday: The Long Island screamo band the Sleeping released its CD Questions and Answers more than a year ago, but they’ve just launched their first headlining tour. The band’s pummeling sound makes for an ideal video-game companion. Little surprise that some of its songs can be heard in top-selling games. Anyone who’s spent more than five minutes playing Madden NFL ’07 or Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam should be familiar with the Sleeping. They’ve even been tapped for next year’s Guitar Hero III. They play the Grog Shop. -- Michael Gallucci
